Paintings in oil belong to the rather lesser-known work created by Lothar Meggendorfer. Our partners sammlung druckwerk had been able to acquire a painting in 2020 showing a boat trip, presumably on Lake Tegernsee in Bavaria. The motif also appears almost unchanged in the drawing Die Heimfahrt (returning home), first published in Aus dem Leben in 1882 and in the work Für brave Kinder in 1884. The painting does not indicate the year, it is likely to have been created in the same period. The work is signed on the lower right with the typical signature of Lothar Meggendorfer. The work has the dimension 50 cm x 40 cm. Hildegard Krahé shows the drawing with the addition Heimfahrt über den Tegernsee, which, however, does not appear in the two Meggendorfer works.
